Empire City Men's Chorus will present its first-ever "composite" mass for the holidays. Using Durufle's serene and ethereal Messe Cum Jubilo for men's chorus and organ as a framework, the concert will intersperse vignettes of music between the movements of the Durufle that prays or pleads for peace in multiple other languages and spiritual traditions including those of Hanukkah and Kwanza. Then, looking eastward, ECMC will present rarely heard holiday and winter music from Asia including works from China, Korea, Japan, and Taiwan.
Taking its name from the carol, "Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day," this concert will encourage listeners to look forward instead of behind them with an eye on becoming peacemakers in the world instead of propagating hatred and division.
